One of the most aspiring developmental scheme of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Prime Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin was today launched in Lakhimpur along with the rest of the State. It is note worthy that a residential house is dreamed to be realised for all through the newly launched Scheme across the nation within 2022 with a view to the platinum jubilee of India's independence in the same year.
Each and every beneficiaries will get an amount of Rs. 1.30 lakh in order to build their residential house through the scheme which is more by Rs. 65,000 than that of previous years.
In Assam, 1.64 lakh such houses are targeted to have constructed within the current year out of which 8939 houses are planned in nine Developmental Blocks in Lakhimpur District. The block-wise distribution of the target in the district is in Telahi-996, North Lakhimpur-528, Boginadi-1404, Dhakuakhona-1933, Nowboicha-876, Karunabari-569, Narayanpur-735, Bihpuria-314, Ghilamora-1585. Today the scheme is launched in all these blocks organising inaugural function in befitting manner. The inaugural function held in Telahi Development Block from 9.30am was chaired by Pradip Kumar Doley, the Chief Executive Officer of Lakhimpur Zila Parishad. MLA of Lakhimpur LAC Utpal Dutta inaugurated the scheme delivering the house sanction letters to twelve beneficiaries of six Panchayats, two from each, under the Block. The whole program was anchored and managed by Rongai Rajkhowa, the Assistant Project Officer(Credit), DRDA, Lakhimpur, who was specially engaged for the reason as there have been no permanent BDO in the Block for notable period of time. The people of the Block have been suffering a lot due this reason in case of implementing developmental schemes as well as resolving the issues in the Block. However, the State Launching Program of the Scheme, centrally held in Sarusajai Krira Prakalpa of Guwahati was displayed on screen to the gathering through Live Telecast today. The MLA expressed in his inaugural speech, his great expectation on the well-implementation of the scheme.
"We must endeavour and should leave no stone unturned to bring transformation to our society eradicating poverty"-he said. On the other hand, Gopi Das, the Chairman of the Telahi Anchalik Panchayat as Guest of Honour, Social Activist Nirmal Sonowal, Journalist Kumud Baruah, CO of North Lakhimpur Revenue Circle Monojeet Bor Kakati, President of Telahi Mandal BJP Pulin Das as Special Guests delivered inspiring lectures highlighting the different aspects of the newly launched schemes. BDO of Lakhimpur Block cum In Charge of Telahi Hemanta Kumar Pegu along with other officials, several prominent figures and common people of the Block were present in the program. Rongai Rajkhowa conveyed the vote of thanks at the end of the program in which child artist Dikshita Dutta, Parthana Saikia sang melodious song while the youths of the Ulubari village demonstrated 'Jhumoi'.
