Rijiju arrives in Imphal to take stock of ground situation as economic blockade continues

Imphal: In order to take the stock of situation in Manipur, the Minister of State for Home Affairs (MoS) Kiren Rijiju along with some senior MHA officers arrived  Manipur today by special flight from New Delhi and met the CM Okram Ibobi Singh to take the stock of the situation from the state of functionaries.

Speaking about his visit to the state, Kiren Rijiju said that he will talk to the State Govt to find a solution to this as people are facing a lot of problems due to the prevailing situation. He said on arrived at the Imphal airport this morning.

Rijiju, Minister of State for Home Affairs, on Friday met Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi singh over the economic blockade in the state imposed by Nagas. He will also visit the areas worst-hit by the blockade imposed by the United Naga Council to denounce the creation of seven new districts from areas inhabited by Nagas in Manipur.

Seven additional paramilitary companies will be added to the existing 150, said MoS Home K Rijiju after meeting Manipur Chief Minister Okrom Ibobi Singh on the United Naga Council blockade.

"At any cost, economic blockade won't be allowed; adequate security provided," Rijiju said. The curfew has been called-off till 9 pm today in some parts of Imphal East district. However, the curfew still continues in few areas from Lamlong Bazar to Yaingangpokpi. Post the eruption of violence in state mobile and internet services have also been suspended.
